Heather Godino - Remote Control Sun Tanning Chair

Remote Control Sun Tanning Chair

In the spring and summer I love to layout in my backyard and soak up the sun. I usually do this in a sun lounge chair. I always never can get it to adjust to the right spot its either to low for my back or too high. Every time I want to fix the level I have to get up and adjust it by moving the back up or down. I have an easy solution to fix this problem.

1. Product Strategy - Insert a power switch on the left arm rest to lower and higher the back rest on the lounge chair. This switch will let the person move the chair to the position of their desire.

2. Idea Generation - Interview a focus group who are using these chairs and get their opinions and comments through group interaction.

3. Idea Screening - The reason I came up with the idea of a remote control sun tanning chair is, because when you are laying out you are supposed to be relaxing. Getting up all the time to adjust the back of your chair isn't helping you to relax, it is very inconvient.

4. Business Analysis

What is the likely demand for the product?
The demand for this product will be much higher in the warmer months especially the summer season.People like to relax and have fun in the summer and laying out by the pool in the sun is a summertime tradition for many people. Also, this product can be sold in large quanties to supply large resorts around the world.

Would current customers benefit from this product?
Yes, I do believe that customers that are now laying out in the sun will enjoy this product. It gives more convience to the customer.

What is the risk of failure?
There will always be the risk of a new product. This risk wouldn't be too high though because many people do buy lounge chairs for the summer. This product will only enhance the customers relaxtion.

5. Development - This lounge chair will be made with plastic that is stronger than the average lounge chair. It will include the power switch which will be solar powered. This would be cheaper and more efficent to operate. The chair will also include a cup holder for more convience for the consumer.

6. Test Marketing - The smartest way to test this product would probably be on a large resort which has lounge chairs around the pool and available to their guests to use.

7. Commercialization - I would like to sell this product at stores such as Target, Wal-Mart, Lowe's, and Home Depot. I think this product should be available on the stores websites also.
